Shifting Currents

When planets change signs (make ingresses), there are shifts in the ethers. The more we sensitize ourselves to the ingress, the more we benefit from its energy.

It only makes sense to honor the planets when they do something noteworthy; e.g. enter a new sign, station direct or retrograde, or lend their heft to an important transit like the Cardinal Climax.

The next major milestone of the Cardinal Climax centers around this month’s Full Moon (see lecture series box in right-hand column).

May 2010
A Call to Action

A new warrior cycle begins on May 27th. For the first time in 84 years, Uranus is going into Aries, the most courageous sign in the zodiac. Are you ready to act upon what you know to be true?

Uranus will form a significant corner of the Cardinal Climax, a world-altering transit pattern with many peaks between now and 2015. For about half a year, Jupiter will be orbiting next to Uranus, putting a bellows to the flame.

Together they will create leaders and heroes.

Baked in a Pie

On April 6th, Pluto will station at 5 Capricorn (monetary systems), exactly opposite the US Jupiter. This should be a pivot point in Americans’ understanding of their depression-a.k.a-recession. But Pluto is still being squared by Saturn from the US midheaven (official agencies), an aspect that brings out fascistic tendencies in ruling elites; in this case, not so much our nominal authorities, but the power behind them: bankers.

January 2010
Ready, Get Set… GO

The period we’ re in is so dramatic, it is downright cinematic –documented not only by astrologers and ancient seers, but by makers of Hollywood blockbusters.1 For a decade now it has been getting more and more obvious to more and more people that we are living in a very unusual period on Planet Earth. As we sweep away the confetti and champagne corks and face the dawn of 2010, let us consider what’s in front of us.

We are beginning not just any old year, but the year when the Cardinal Cross peaks for the first time.

Mid-month features a surge of energy. Saturn’s station on January 13th, just hours before the Solar , just hours before the Solar Eclipse

Laying Down the Law

As I type these words, Saturn is only three degrees away from Libra. This should provide a refreshing change.

For two and a half years Saturn has been in Virgo, the sign of health and sickness. Although there were other transits that went into making health care reform the 500-pound gorilla that it has become, we can chalk up to Virgo (unconscious Virgo, that is) the obsessive parsing that has surrounded this charade of a debate. With Saturn moving into an air sign, I am looking forward to a fresh breeze of reason and rationality to waft into the American conversation.

Mob Rule

Astrologically, it wasn’t hard to see that health care was going to be the issue of the year. Consider the makeup of the Super Conjunction of 2009: Neptune (universality), Chiron (healing) and Jupiter (reform) in Aquarius (medicine). All the ingredients were there. This was the set-up long before this summer’s astonishing partisan antics enflamed the debate like a mad doctor setting his patient alight.

August 2008
Empowered or Devoured

To conscientious Americans it is nothing short of unbelievable; to international observers it is beyond insanity. The group of militarists who brought us the War in Iraq are actually getting ready to attack Iran. Apparently willing and eager to follow up the most notorious military blunder since Viet Nam with another whose outcome promises to be downright dystopic, Washington has put the bulwark in place in the Eastern bloc to launch the assault.1 It is a scenario right out of Stanley

God on Their Side

So they finally got their way. The dogged little cadre of religious fascists who vowed fifty years ago to re-outlaw abortion played the long game, and finally scored. (1)  They were the tortoise and everybody else was the hare. These guys know full well that the American public is overwhelmingly in favor of legal abortion. […]

Look Up

As the new year began, a lot of people were watching a movie about the annihilation of Earth. “Don’t Look Up” is a wake-up call movie, that’s clear. What isn’t so clear is how wake-up-able its audience is. Life as parody It must be galling to make satirical art in a society where every headline […]

Reality Bites

They’re coming at us right out of the gate, as 2021 begins: cosmic echoes of 2020. In astrology, the calendar year doesn’t have a singular beginning. Cycles overlap, bleeding one into another. New lessons begin against the backdrop of old ones. The cosmos is saying: You want to know what’s going to happen? Assimilate what you’ve just […]
